The best time to visit Pahalgam is from April to October. During April & May, one can get snow in the higher regions as it melts away with arrival of summer. From June to October, even though there maybe the occassional rainfall, Pahalgam is adorned with a cascade of flowers and lush greenery.

Pahalgam Facts

Pahalgam is host to the famous Amarnath Yatra, the annual Hindu pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Lord Shiva, known as Amarnath Gufa. Serving as the base camp during the Amarnath Yatra, the Pahalgam-Chandanwari-Amarnath route is preferred by tourists trying to reach the mountain cave of Lord Shiva. Every year in the month of July, millions of devotees throng this place to start their pilgrimage to the famous shrine. 

Betaab Valley got its name from the 80s hit Bollywood movie of the same name, which was extensively shot here. It was earlier known as Hagan Valley which is still its actual name but the name Betaab Valley is the one that gets used most often.

Flight
By Air
Srinagar airport is the closest domestic airport to Pahalgam which is approximately 95 kilometres away. The Srinagar airport is well-connected to other major cities like New Delhi, Jammu, Leh, Mumbai and Chandigarh. Some of the popular carriers are Spice Jet, IndiGo, Air India and Go Air. Once you reach at the airport, you can hire a taxi or a cab which will take you to the town.
Train
By Train
There are no train stations in Pahalgam. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi, which is at a distance of 157 kilometres and is well-linked with most of the Indian cities. Some of the trains that ply regularly from the Jammu railway station are Uttar Sampark Rajdhani, Jammu Rajdhani and Jhelum Express
Car
By Road
Pahalgam is well-connected with neighbouring cities of Srinagar and Jammu. Regular bus services are available from Srinagar and Anantnag. You can choose from the routine state-run buses or a special luxurious coach by any private vendor.
